Reverend Frank McDevitt Appointed Chaplain of His Holiness

A special Eucharistic celebration was held on September 27, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help to recognize the appointment of Reverend Frank McDevitt as a “Chaplain of His Holiness,” an honour bestowed by Pope Leo XIV.

Through this appointment, Fr. McDevitt receives the honorary title of Monsignor and becomes a member of the Papal Household. The distinction recognizes his many years of faithful and generous service to the Church and to the people of the Archdiocese of Toronto.

During the celebration, His Eminence Cardinal Frank Leo read the official document announcing the Holy Father’s recognition and appointment of Fr. McDevitt as Chaplain of His Holiness. Cardinal Leo also highlighted Msgr. McDevitt’s constant service, humility, and dedication to the service of the Church of God.

The special Mass, celebrated at 4 p.m., brought together parishioners, clergy, family, and friends to offer thanksgiving and to celebrate this significant occasion with Msgr. McDevitt. The well-attended celebration provided an opportunity for the faithful to express their gratitude for his dedicated ministry and witness of service to the Church.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, those gathered enjoyed refreshments and fellowship, continuing the celebration and sharing in the joy of this special recognition.

The Archdiocese of Toronto joins the parish community in extending its congratulations and prayerful best wishes to Msgr. McDevitt as he continues his ministry in service to the Church.
